Investigation underway into double shooting in Waianae that left 2 teens seriously injured
WAIANAE (HawaiiNewsNow) - For the second night in a row, Honolulu police responded to a shooting incident in Waianae. Officials said two teens suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. when police said they were called to an area of Ala Akau Street.
According to Honolulu EMS, a 15-year-old male was treated for apparent gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. He was taken to a nearby emergency room in serious condition.
Then at 8:35 p.m., EMS said a 19-year-old male walked up to an ambulance nearby on Farrington Highway, also with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
EMS said it was unknown where the second teen was wounded.
It’s unclear how many suspects were involved but police said they fled the area on foot.
No arrests have been made.
This shooting comes a day after officers shot and killed a suspect accused of firing several rounds at several people in Waianae Valley.
The recent spate of gun violence is prompting state and county officials to beef up law enforcement in the community.
Gov. Josh Green told HNN he plans on bringing “significantly more law enforcement support to Waianae.”
He released a statement saying: ”In partnership with the Mayor, Chief of Police, Councilwoman Tupola, and other local officials, we met late last night and rapidly developed a plan to bring significantly more law enforcement support to Waianae, including added Sherriff support, DOCARE officers and other law enforcement capacity. This gun violence must stop, and anyone threatening or harming others will face immediate arrest and prosecution.”
The investigation is ongoing.
