SmartMoney Monday: Financial scams targeting the elderly

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - In this SmartMoney Monday, we’re going to discuss a serious problem affecting the elderly: financial scams.
It’s estimated that about 5% of the elderly population, which is a few million people, are victims of some sort of scam every year resulting in billions of dollars in theft.
Chris Buto, of Bank of Hawaii, has a few tips on how to protect yourself or your loved ones from getting scammed.
