HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Our Hawaiian word of the day is "Olai."

The word olai is used to describe an earthquake or a tremor.

Used in a sentence, "Nei ka honua, he olai ia," which is translated as "When the Earth trembles, it is an earthquake."

As Tutu Pele makes her way towards the ocean in Puna, the entirety of Hawaii island has felt the many olai announcing her presence.
