HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii wide receiver Steven McBride, 22, was arrested early Saturday morning, accused of abuse of a family member.

The Rainbow Warriors’ starting senior was arrested in Wahiawa and was booked for a felony crime.

McBride remains in HPD’s cell block.

Multiple sources tell Hawaii News Now McBride allegedly shoved a woman who was holding a baby.

McBride had more than a thousand yards receiving in the 2023 season and caught nine touchdowns.

The University of Hawaii issued a statement:

The University of Hawaii takes any allegation of domestic violence very seriously. The university can confirm that Steven McBride is a student-athlete on the 2024-2025 football roster, and that UH has received notification that he was detained. Per our Student-Athlete Handbook, any student facing felony charges will be automatically suspended from participation in intercollegiate athletics, pending further processes occurring. The appropriate UH officials have been notified.
