PODCAST: ‘Other Side’ sits down with jury foreman in Kaneshiro bribery case
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Last month, after nearly two days of deliberations, a jury found ex-city Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro and his co-defendants not guilty in a sprawling federal bribery case.
The verdict was the culmination of years of investigation.
But, as the jury foreman told HNN Investigative Reporter Lynn Kawano, the evidence in the case didn’t convince jury members beyond a reasonable doubt. That’s a requirement for criminal convictions.
“With the evidence that was provided, it was really hard,” said Kelii Paleka said.
“You get the bad gut feeling about somebody, you know there’s something wrong here.”
