No tsunami threat to Hawaii after powerful earthquake strikes near Loyalty Islands

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A large earthquake has struck near the Loyalty Islands, but there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
The 7.7-magnitude quake struck around 3:20 a.m. Hawaii time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
USGS said it was centered southeast of Loyalty Islands, near New Zealand.
