No tsunami threat after 4.7-magnitude quake rattles Big Island

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A magnitude 4.7 quake struck off Hawaii Island early Monday, but there’s no tsunami threat, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
It happened around 6:05 a.m. about 12 miles away from Naalehu, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Many residents reported feeling the shaking — even as far as from Molokai.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory says the quake had no apparent effect on Kilauea or Mauna Loa volcanoes.
Experts say the bending of an oceanic plate may have caused this quake.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
