AIEA (HawaiiNewsNow) - An open storm drain damaged multiple vehicles on the H-1 Freeway during the Thursday morning commute.

A crash was initially reported around 5:20 a.m. near the Pono underpass in Aiea.

Officials said a storm drain grate cover was in the middle of the freeway. We’re told it flattened the tires of at least four cars.

No injuries have been reported.

The right shoulder lane just after the Kaahumanu overpass remains closed as crews review the storm drain.

DOT says any drivers who have sustained damage to their vehicle can file a claim with Department of Accounting and General Services by clicking here.
