WARD (HawaiiNewsNow) - Three elderly pedestrians were seriously injured in a crash in the Ward area Wednesday morning, officials said.

Honolulu police, first responders and firefighters responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m. on Ala Moana Boulevard.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said the pedestrians — an 85-year-old woman and two 78-year-old women — were transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

The cause of the crash remains unclear at this time but an officer on the scene told Hawaii News Now that the pedestrians did not have the right of way and no charges were filed.

All westbound lanes on Ala Moana Boulevard were shut down but they have since been reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
