These 17 little furry friends are seeking a forever home. Here’s how you can help
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There more than a dozen little furry friends seeking their forever home — 17 to be exact.
Animal rescue nonprofit Poi Dogs & Popoki says it’s looking for foster families to take care of at least two out of 17 rescue puppies.
Volunteer Board President Alicia Maluafiti told HNN Sunrise the 17 pups came from two pregnant Terrier Mix dogs who were dumped at Maili Beach Park. They had given birth on the reef, under the rocks, along the water’s edge.
The nonprofit was asked to take in the mommy dogs and their litters of puppies who were only a few days old at the time.
Now, they’re six-weeks-old and ready for foster care.
Maluafiti says the nonprofit provides a starter pack of puppy kibble, puppy wet food, and puppy pads. They also cover all veterinary care.
As for foster families, they’re expected to provide shelter, daily care, and lots of love to prepare the puppies for adoption in four to six weeks.
Families interested in fostering two to three puppies can contact Poi Dogs & Popoki by emailing adoptions@poidogsandpopoki.org, calling 808-551-7915 or completing the online foster agreement.
However, if you’re ready to take that extra step and make the commitment you can adopt a pet and give them a forever home.
The nonprofit says all PDP pets are sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated (three shots for distemper/parvo), and flea/tick/heartworm treated.
Adoption fee is $300 per puppy, or two puppies for $500.
PDP also hosts puppy and dog adoptions every Saturday and Sunday at PetSmart Mililani and PetSmart Kapolei. Cats and kittens are available for adoption every day.
