Annual Hope Gala Honolulu to Present ‘Midnight in Tokyo’
(Hawaii News Now) - "Midnight in Tokyo" will serve as the theme for the American Cancer Society Hawai'I Pacific's Second Annual Hope Gala, set for Saturday, May 17 at The Hawai'I State Art Museum.
More than 300 patrons are expected for the fundraiser benefiting the American Cancer Society's efforts to finish the fight against cancer. The event, which will include a welcome reception and an elegant dinner, will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. on the lawn of the historic Hawai'I State Art Museum. Diners will be treated to cuisine prepared by chefs from Morimoto, Doraku, MW Restaurant, Grand Café Bakery and Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar. Guests also will be treated to traditional sake tasting by The Sake Shop.
Headlining the event will be Broadway performer Mahi'ai Kekumu of "Wicked" and "Aida." Also planned are a Koto performance by Darin Miyashiro and a Taiko performance by the Kenny Endo School. In addition to live entertainment, Hope Gala guests will enjoy various activities, including a Tokyo photo booth, silent and live auctions and Japanese candy art from Candy Art Hawaii.

All Hope Gala proceeds will go toward the American Cancer Society's mission of helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back. Programs supported include cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services. Last year, the inaugural Hope Gala raised $100,000 for the Society.
