Honolulu Police Community Foundation to Honor Hawaii Tourism Authority/Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii
(Hawaii News Now) - The Honolulu Police Community Foundation raises funds for scholarships, to purchase needed equipment for HPD and services to the frail and elderly. This year at its annual gala dinner it is honoring the Hawaii Tourism Authority and VASH for both organizations' contributions to the safety and well-being of our visitor industry and tourists.
The Honolulu Police Community Foundation announces the honorees at its 2014 "Honolulu's Finest" gala: the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii.
"The Hawaii Tourism Authority is the caretaker of Hawaii's most important economic sector – the visitor industry, and the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii has helped tourists and residents through difficult times in the event of a crime or accident', HPCF Board President Lee Donohue said. "We selected these two respected organizations because of the work they do to help Hawaii remain one of the safest, most beautiful places on earth to live in and to visit. The Tourism Authority is the 'keeper of the flame' – our brand as a unique and exceptional tourist destination, and a major source of employment for our residents. VASH has stepped forward in times of crisis for decades, to aid travelers in need, and make sure that they leave our islands with a sense of being cared for and valued. These characteristics are very much in line with the Honolulu Police Community Foundation's mission to support our police and public safety officers and to care for the frail and aged in our population."
The Hawaii Tourism Authority sets policy for sustainable growth of the industry, markets the state around the world, and helps support many local events, festivals and programs that contribute to the richness of the visitor experience. VASH, a private non-profit charitable organization funded by the Tourism Authority, is the largest provider of emergency services and support for visitors who are injured or are victimized by crime while in the Aloha State. "Both organizations contribute mightily to our reputation, our brand, and the overall quality of Hawaii as a visitor destination and home," said Donohue.
