PHOENIX (KPNX) – An Arizona homeowner stopped an attempted motorcycle theft that was happening in broad daylight – or rather, broad moonlight.

When Krystal Smith’s doorbell camera let her know that there was activity on her front porch, she saw more than she wanted to.

Two men were wheeling her husband’s motorcycle down the driveway – slowly – and one of them needed a belt.

“You gotta be f***ing kidding me,” Smith said when she saw one of the men with his pants falling down.

Catching them in the act, Smith banged on the door to scare them off and then called 911.

The two men dropped the bike and took off slowly.

Her husband Eric Smith got the doorbell video on his phone while he was at work.

He expected to get upset about thieves at his home, but instead, he couldn’t help but laugh.

“I would have expected myself to, you know, get, like, adrenaline… but I’m just watching it, and I call the guys I work with. I’m like, ‘Come here. Look at this. That’s the guy’s butt.’ We’re just like, ‘This cannot be real,’” Eric Smith said.

He’s now calling the would-be thieves the “butt crack bandits.”

While the video didn’t capture a license plate, the Smiths believe someone will recognize the men.

“In one of the shots, where you could see his butt real good, you could also see his shoes real good and everything. So, I mean, somebody’s gonna recognize him,” Eric Smith said.

The family said they filed a police report and gave the video to the police.

They hope someone recognizes either of the two guys – either from the front or the rear.
