4-year-old boy dies after being found submerged in pool, officials say

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - A 4-year-old boy in South Carolina has died after he was found unresponsive in a pool on Saturday, according to officials.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office along with several other agencies responded to a home on Pine Street around 7:40 p.m. for a report of a child that had gone missing for a short period of time.

Officials said the young boy was found submerged in the pool.

After he was removed from the pool, officials initiated CPR until EMS arrived to take him to a hospital, where he passed away.

Officials said the boy was identified as Joseph Pedro Ignacio.

The cause and manner of death are pending.

This incident is under investigation by the coroner’s office and sheriff’s office.
