HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A new lawsuit by a female HPD officer accuses higher-ranking officers of gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and inappropriate behavior at the training academy.

The lawsuit says some recruits were given preferential treatment on tests and it describes an alleged “sex party” at a Waimanalo beach house where officers and recruits engaged in inappropriate acts.

The suit says the female officer’s concerns were ignored.

In response to the lawsuit, HPD issued the following statement: “The Honolulu Police Department takes all allegations seriously. We will be working with city attorneys to address the lawsuit.”
