HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Police Department, HFD, and EMS responded to a critical motor vehicle crash early Sunday morning, according to Honolulu police officials.

Officials say the incident happened just after 6 a.m. on Farrington Highway, west of Nanakuli Avenue in the Nanakuli area.

Authorities say a 25-year-old man was driving eastbound on Farrington Highway when he collided with an 18-year-old male driver stopped at the traffic light waiting to make a left turn.

The crash caused the 25-year-old to spin out and collide with a separate vehicle driven by a 70-year-old man driving with a 56-year-old woman.

The crash also caused the vehicle driven by the 18-year-old to be pushed forward into oncoming traffic, colliding with another separate vehicle that was driven by a 52-year-old woman with a 56-year-old male passenger.

EMS took the 25-year-old to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Officials say he was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.

The 18-year-old suffered minor injuries and remained on scene.

The 70-year-old male driver and his 56-year-old female passenger were not injured and remained on scene.

The 52-year-old female driver and her 56-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries from the crash.

At this time, speed appears to be a contributing factor in the collision. It remains unknown if alcohol or drugs are contributing factors in this collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
