HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A celebration in Waikiki for the birthday of a late Hawaiian pop legend.

Don Ho, who would have been 94 this week, was honored with a Tribute Show at International Market Place.

“One paddle, two paddle, three paddle, Four to take me home.”

The free Friday evening concert, put on by Henry Kapono & Friends, featured Don Ho music and hula to celebrate the life of the music legend, who died in 2007 at the age of 76.

Ho’s son Dwight led a ceremonial lei draping of the Don Ho statue in the Banyan Court and gave a touching speech about reuniting with his father one day.

“Even though I haven’t played golf for a while, I’m taking it back up because I know as I’m getting older, at some point, when my life is over, we’re gonna play golf again, music, hula,” Dwight Ho said.

Don Ho had 10 children, and many of his loved ones and extended family were there tonight to wish him a happy 94th.
