HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police are looking for the suspect behind an early-morning blaze at Mililani High School Monday morning.
The fire was reported around 4:45 a.m. near the school’s tennis courts.
Seven units were dispatched to Mililani High School and crews found plastic rubbish burning near the school’s softball field.
After further investigation, police said several rolls of artificial turf went up in flames at the softball field, causing about $120,000 in damage.
The school’s vice principals said the turf was going to be installed that day.
“This would’ve been the new field our girls would’ve been playing on coming back from our state championship it’s just really sad and it’s really sickening that these individuals did this so blatantly,” the vice principal explained.
The fire was fully extinguished at 5:10 a.m.
