Moped rider, 26, seriously injured after hit-and-run crash in Kaimuki

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 26-year-old moped rider is recovering in the hospital after a hit-and-run crash in Kaimuki on Sunday, Honolulu police said.

The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Waialae Avenue.

HPD said the male victim was exiting the driveway of Kaimuki McDonald’s when he was broadsided by a vehicle and ejected onto the road.

He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.

Authorities said the other driver did not stop to help.

Police say the suspected vehicle involved was a gray Toyota Corolla.

At this time, it’s unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash.
