HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 71-year-old man who fatally struck a woman on Hawaii Island has pleaded guilty, officials said.

Carlton Inada pleaded guilty to charges of negligent homicide in the hit-and-run crash involving 79-year-old Barbara Klein.

It happened last October in Hilo, as Kelin pedaled an orange recumbent trike on Akolea Road.

According to police records, Inada struck Klein then left her on the road.

He called police when he got home, officials said.

Klein was a chief instructor at “Aikido of Hilo” and was a 7th degree black belt.
