UH wide receiver Steven McBride returns to team activities
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii wide receiver Steven McBride returned to team activities with the Rainbow Warriors on Tuesday.
The Louisiana native has been suspended from the team since July after he was arrested on felony abuse.
The arrest was reclassified to two counts of petty misdemeanor and not felony abuse of family. No charges have been filed.
“Steven McBride is going through drills and he’s been back on team activities with us,” Head coach Timmy Chang told reporters following Tuesday’s practice. “It’s good to have him back, you know, and he just wants to be better.”
The senior receiver practiced on the scout team offense going against the first team defense. For the time being, McBride is ineligible for game participation due to an undisclosed eligibility issue unrelated to the suspension.
“As of right now, I’m not sure if he will be able to come back and so he’s giving us a look right now, he’s on the scout team and just giving our defense a look,” Chang said. “So I don’t know if we’re going to have him back yet.”
The ‘Bows season opener is less than two weeks away, set to take on Delaware State on August 24th.
